XXXIII ONTA REUNION
VARADERO, CUBA
(JUNE 11-15, 2001)

As announced in the previous issue of the ONTA Newsletter, the 33rd ONTA Meeting will be organized within the context of the 4th International Scientific Seminar on Plant Protection, which will take place at the International Convention Center “Plaza America”, Varadero, Cuba from June 11-15th, 2001. Web sites for the Seminar are <http://www.buroconv.cubaweb.cu/> or <http://www.ceniai.inf.cu/ciencia/inisav>. Contact person is Esther Lilia Peralta at <varadero01@hotmail.com> . ONTA members planning to attend the meeting can find information
about the meting, travel and accommodations at the ONTA web site and in the previous issue of the Newsletter. Additional information about the ONTA Meeting can be obtained also from Emilio Fernández and Lourdes Sánches-Portales who co-chair the Local Arrangement Committee (LAC) for ONTA (see LAC in the list of ONTA Officers).

This ONTA meeting is expected to be well attended because of the interesting agricultural site, tropical nematological problems of the area, and the great opportunity to interact with other scientists from disciplines related to Nematology.

ONTA PUBLICATIONS ON THE INTERNET

Larry Duncan, Editor-in-Chief of Nematropica has provided the following details about the electronic version of Nematropica, which is posted at the ONTA web site.
The Internet version of Nematropica permits electronic searches by author or subject. Complete articles can either be viewed on line or printed. Providing access to these publications via the web site is intended to disseminate important news and scientific information in the fastest and most economical manner to the widest possible audience. Since the ONTA Newsletter is made available to the ONTA members only via Iternet, the editors of Nematropica and the Newsletter welcome suggestions and comments from the members about the use of this new communication system to obtain scientific data and news concerning our organization.

NEMATOLOGICAL JOURNALS

We would like to bring to the attention of ONTA members the improvement of the editorial version of two Nematological Journals, Indian Journal of Nematology and Nematologia Brasileira. In recent years these two major Journals, which are a source of excellent information on tropical nematology, have enlarged the format and improved the paper and printing quality. Congratulations are extended to the Indian Society of Nematologists and Brazilian Society of Nematologists for their efforts to advance the dissemination of scientific information on Tropical Nematology

ONTA FOUNDATION

ONTA Foundation Treasurer Report
22 March 2000 23 April 2001

The Foundation received four generous contributions during the above time period. Those four contributors were Fields Caveness (six continuous years), Charles Overstreet, R. Rodriguez-Kabana, and Jim Starr (4 continuous years. R. Rodriguez Kabana gave the largest single contribution to date to the Foundation ($6000.00). Additionally, he has agreed to contribute $1000.00 yearly to the Foundation with a request that a portion of the contribution be used for best student paper awards.
Expenditures from the Foundation included a $61.25 filing fee and a $236.25 reregistration fee to the Florida Department of State. Additionally, $120.00 was sent to ONTA for 2-year memberships awarded to four students paper winners at the 32nd Annual ONTA Meeting. Besides the annual filing fee, the last two years of student awards funding are all expenditures that have been made made by the Foundation. This has been due to the need to accumulate funds through interest growth. The Committee, however, will suggest other useful projects that could be funded from a portion of the interest earnings.
